Far from home?
Waitress in Vermont upon checking my ID, “wow, California. You’re far from home!”

I wonder how many other people have flown the Lisbon, Casablanca, New York City, San Francisco itinerary before.

Lufthansa Cares
In Lufthansa’s Munich domestic terminal, there are machines that make you a little cup of coffee for free.
Air India
A) I flew Air India from Frankfurt to Newark. Yea, this seems weird to me too. B) Air India’s “where am I?” maps highlight the locations and dates of famous shipwrecks, such as the Titantic and the Bismark.
Sanity Check
If you don’t speak the language, a good indicator of whether or not you have selected the correct bathroom is the presence of urinals.
Deutsches Museum
The Deutsches Museum in Munich is hands down one of the coolest museums I have ever been to. They have tons of aircraft, spacecraft, some robots, a section on metallurgy, the list goes on. Amazing.
Country Roads
– is playing at my Istanbul hostel’s rooftop bar as everyone watches the world cup. Something is odd here.
Achievement Unlocked: Three Continents
On this trip: Europe, Africa, Asia. I am told if I go to Times Square on the way home, I can count North America and get four continents.

New Journal
My new journal is my iPod. It syncs to the cloud and I can write in it faster than I could in my old journal. It is worse for drawing pictures and other graphical decorations. Pros and cons, right?
Lost Notebook
Green, hardcover, last seen on ATM in Istanbul airport. Reward if found.
I'm on a boat!
Nile River dinner cruise on our last night in Cairo. Forgot to pack my nautical themed pashmina afghan, and didn’t see any for sale in the market today :-(
Bring Your Own Tissues
One of the most important lessons I learned from Hong Kong was to always carry your own tissues to use as toilet paper.
Pyramids!
Free granary in every city.
Pedestrian Crossings
I have never so confidently walked across so many lanes of moving traffic without any sort of crossing aid in my life.
Egyptian Museum
The Egyptian Museum in Cairo has about 10% of its pieces labeled, and they were mostly labeled back when typewriters were vogue. It is amazing how much awesome stuff there is simply a mystery.
Buyer's Remorse

St. Christopher is open wireless networks when you are doomed otherwise.
In Flight Entertainment
No Lady GaGa, but all the Ke$ha and Jay-Z I could ever hope for.
One Way
The Dublin airport has a one way door from the cool mall-like central area with fun shops and restaurants to the boring gate area with boxed sandwich stands. I accidentally went through it ninety minutes before my connecting flight.
